What is involved with getting the maximum benefit out of your Niagara massage therapy treatment? It is essential to be prepared and open minded to the various techniques of a massage session as our Registered Massage Therapists offer individualized and innovative massage treatment.
PREPARING FOR YOUR MASSAGE
Part of this process involves the preparation of your body before the massage. Being punctual helps us remain on schedule, which benefits you and all of our patients that day, and it also allows your body to be more receptive to a massage. Arriving to an appointment late and in a hurried and frantic state tends to cause the body to take a lengthier time to relax. Eating just before an appointment is also not recommended. The body needs time to digest food, and you will feel more comfortable during your massage if you consider this.
COMMUNICATION IS KEY
Before each massage treatment, we welcome everyone to provide health information and communicate what are the reasons and goals for your massage. Having this open line of communication is mutually beneficial to both the RMT and the patient. Points that can be discussed are things such as the uses of essential oils and/or lotions, playing of music, reporting of any areas of discomfort, techniques that are favored and other timely feedback before your massage.
IN-TREATMENT FEEDBACK: WE CAN ADAPT YOUR TREATMENT IN THE MOMENT
The WIN Registered Massage Therapy Niagara team members offer a range of massage treatment options. Certain techniques that an RMT employs may offer more intense treatment than others, so we welcome feedback from your during the massage. We can adjust pressure and treatment options according to your feedback.
TREAT THE ROOT CAUSE
You may receive treatment to areas not at your source of pain. Muscle pain in one area does not necessarily mean that that area is the source of the problem. Localized pain may be a result of tightness or injury to a different set of muscles. We want to work comprehensively to address the source and the site of your discomfort.
OPTIMAL SELF CARE: MASSAGE MAINTENANCE
The therapeutic effects of massage are cumulative. The more often you get a massage, the better you will feel and the more quickly your body will respond and recover. If you’re getting massage to address chronic muscular issues or recovery from an injury, more than one session is normally necessary. Our WIN Receptionists can work with you to arrange a series of visits based on the treatment plan you have discussed with your WIN Niagara Massage Therapy team member. Massage will have its greatest benefits over time.
MASSAGE MOVES MUSCLES SO YOU CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS!
Finally, a sign of a good massage treatment is that the next day, your body may feel like it underwent a good physical workout. This is ideal and means that your treatment stimulated and tonified your muscles, moved circulation, and supported tissue detoxification. We may recommend exercises and stretches after your treatment to help you prolong the positive effect of your massage.
