Most people stumble out of the gray cold season and into the sunny warm months feeling like a flaky pastry. Am I right or am I right? Flaky dry skin is a really common experience for many during the winter. Sure, you can slather on the lotion, but there is a practice that not only helps skin appearance, but also can increase skin tone and support deeper levels of health like immune function.
I have long recommended an old school skin practice to help others with overall skin health, and also for lymphatic drainage, blood circulation and to aid in detoxification. It's known as Dry Skin Brushing. Dry skin brushing is like a gentle whole body exfoliation with benefits going way deeper than just the skin.
Yes, you will find lots written about this practice from GOOPy bloggers and the like...but skin brushing dates waaaaay back to the early days of medicine and is still commonly practiced in many parts of the world.
More recently, spas have offered dry skin brushing as part of their whole body treatments. Another take on skin brushing at the spa is the “salt glow” treatment where coarse sea salt is used to exfoliate the skin.
You don't have to be a celebrity or go to a spa to get revitalizing benefits of skin brushing. Skin brushing is SIMPLE, EASY, QUICK and can feel good done by you, for you. :)
Skin brushing is another example of something old being new again. I love these old school practices that are so simple yet have tremendous benefit.
