Do you have pain in your jaw?
Do you have pain or clicking with chewing or talking?
Do you suffer from headaches or a sensation of ear “fullness”?
Maybe it’s time to have your TMJ assessed.
What is TMJ?
The Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) is the jaw joint found just in front of your ear. When something goes wrong with your TMJ it’s called Temporomandibular Dysfunction (TMD). TMD issues can be most commonly caused by imbalances of the muscles of your head, neck and/or jaw, or issues within the joint itself called an internal derangement or a combination of the two.
What are the symptoms of TMD?
With TMD, you often hear clicking when you open or close your mouth, sometimes with pain and sometimes without pain. You may also have a tense feeling around your jaw, head or neck. Sometimes there can be pain when clenching your teeth.
How can we help?
The Physiotherapists and Chiropractors at WIN Health Solutions are great at treating TMD. We can perform manual techniques to your upper neck and inside your mouth that help release tight muscles. We can also share individualized health education about why it’s occurring and what lifestyle and activity modifications you can make to help alleviate the pain. We can also set up an exercise program that can be done easily at home to address your symptoms of TMD.
If you think you might have a problem with your TMJ and would like it assessed, visit us at WIN Health Solutions and we’d be happy to help.
