Many people buy magazines, or watch TV, wishing they looked like fitness models or professional athletes. What many of them don’t realize is that it comes at a cost.
Take myself, for example. My few years spent as a professional boxer saw hours of training, everyday. It saw strict diets. It saw major sacrifice. With a family, work and coaching schedule, I couldn’t keep fighting, or keep it all going, even if I wanted to.
But what does my time as a professional boxer and that of the fitness models have in common? Probably a lot more than you think! Fitness models go through pretty much the same sort of effort when a photo shoot takes place as when a boxer has to get his/her weight right for weigh-in. The real question is whether it is worth it to look the way they do?
What is important to you? Time to prioritize. What are you willing to do and give up in order to look like that magazine model you saw. Not having any junk food, eating chicken breasts and veggies, and absolutely no alcohol, may be fine for some. For many, on the other hand, this could be really difficult to commit to.
Time to consider at how you REALLY want to look, to feel your best and be at your best health. What it will take to look that way and what will it cost you? This is a reasonable inventory, and it's different for everybody. How much will it change... Family time? Money? Nights out with friends? And then, you need to ask yourself... “is it worth it?"
