Niagara Falls Physiotherapy Is Restoring Your Bladder and Pelvic Health

Have you ever laughed and tears ran down your leg? Have you ever pulled in the driveway and had to run as fast as you can to the bathroom in your home? Have you ever suffered from any sort of pelvic pain? NONE of this is normal!!

These are all dysfunctions that can be helped, and believe it or not Kegels are not always the answer!  They can actually do more harm than good if it is performed in the wrong situation. If you can relate to any of the above situations, I urge you to discuss things with a specialized pelvic floor physiotherapist. There is extensive research that concludes that certified physiotherapists with specialized training in pelvic floor rehabilitation should be the first line of defense before surgical consultation for stress, urge and mixed incontinence in women. We also play an integral role in reducing pelvic pain and in pre-and post partum care.

A pelvic floor physiotherapist must take advanced training and must become registered with the Ontario College of Physiotherapists prior to treating any patients. Our women's health specialist at WIN Health Solutions, Tania Mannella PT, DPT will perform a detailed assessment and take an extensive history of each patient's situation. The assessment also includes a short internal, physical exam in order to assess the tenderness, integrity, strength and endurance of the pelvic floor musculature. We will assess the pain source, trigger points and potential neurological issues. Once we establish the source of the issue we continue into treatment immediately.

Pelvic floor physiotherapy is not new, but most women and doctors are not aware of this form of treatment. If you or someone you know, suffer from any sort of pelvic pain or incontinence, please discuss pelvic floor physiotherapy as an option of conservative treatment with your doctor. We would love to be of service to you and your specialized women's health issue at the WIN Health Solutions Niagara Falls Physiotherapy clinic.
